Welcome to Wood Raven Outdoors. Wood Raven Outdoors is a small, family-owned company that is focused on building custom longbows. My brother and I learned to build bows from Art Akinson who has been building bows for over 35 years. In addition, we have been constantly learning from Jim Belcher at Belcher Bows. He has a long and successful history in the traditional archery world, and we are blessed to have the opportunity to learn from him and continuously improve. Brian is the main bowyer and is a master carpenter by trade.
As a small, family-owned business, we want to provide you with the ability to customize your bow to your liking. Whether it be simply the length of your bow or the many different options associated with wood type, color inlays, and finger grips, we are focused on building you something special. Your bow will be like no other!
What makes our bows different from others? While providing you with a personal connection through your bow’s individuality is important, it even more important that they provide you with a very high level of performance when the moment of truth presents itself. Our bows are reflex/deflex-style bows and provide stability, ease of draw, reliability, and a high level of performance. We are hunters and archers ourselves, with that being said we know our bows perform in the field when the moment counts. Again, our primary focus is on performance and second is customization. That is our promise!
We are a company that was formed based on our deep roots in the outdoors. From a young age, we fell in love with the sport of archery and our goal is to provide an avenue for others to fall in love with the sport. Not only do we make custom longbows, but we produce outdoor media. Through our YouTube channel, we hope to inspire and motivate others to “get back to your roots” and harness the true spirit of the wild. From bow hunting in our home state of Michigan or traveling to Ontario bear hunting, we want to take you on an adventure! You will see that while we love traditional archery, we also hunt with our compound bows. We believe strongly in no segregation within the hunting community.
